Workshop: Off the Page
Our classes for parents and children together usually take place after school and last for 1½ hours. ‘Off the Page’ is a course of five creative sessions in which families work together to create a scrapbook of pictures inspired by a children’s book. We show how taking part in activities such as collage and games as a family brings stories to life and helps children to develop literacy and social skills. At the same time, parents develop confidence in doing activities that help their children learn. We also run one-off workshops based on specific books such as Dear Zoo, Jack and the Beanstalk and The Gingerbread Man. All resources are provided and each family is given a scrapbook to share and keep.
This session gave me some fantastic ideas.
Brilliant idea. Good for both the parents and the children.
Very good to encourage children in focusing on one theme.
