Clio Whittaker started Ampersand Learning to provide families and support schools with an innovative and effective service for family learning and parental engagement. Clio first became involved with parents and schools as a parent governor and subsequently trained as a family learning practitioner. She has worked with the wide range of family experiences to be found in inner-city London, such as Camden, Islington, Southwark and Tower Hamlets. She has also worked for the British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Museum of London. Clio has developed many creative and innovative workshops and courses for parents and children and is particularly interested in supporting families with reading at home.
Marie-Ange King joined Ampersand Learning in early 2015. She has taught in Further Education colleges in London for the past 38 years. As a senior manager she was responsible for developing curriculum and for support services including additional learning support and college nurseries. Early in her career she taught in secondary schools and was a primary school governor. More recently she was involved in teacher and staff training. She knows first hand what a difference parental support can make to a child’s success and is keen to help parents support their children effectively.
